In light of the recent COVID-19 outbreak, our Insurers have advised of the following:
If a member who has registered for travel hasn’t commenced travel and are concerned that their travel may be disrupted, they should first contact their travel agent, airline or other travel service provider to make alternative arrangements or to obtain a refund.
Coverage position and cut-off dates for “Do not travel” advice level
Please note that cover will not apply for travel to any destination which had a DFAT advice level of ‘Do not travel’ prior to the travel booking. This means that there is no cover for loss of deposits, cancellation or disruption in relation to travel booked by the insured to:
- Wuhan and Hubei province after 24 January 2020;
- All of mainland China after 1 February 2020; and
- Any destinations where the DFAT advice level was upgraded to ‘Do not travel’ prior to an insured’s booking.
If a member who has registered for travel is travelling to a destination that does not have a DFAT advice level of ‘Do not travel’, cover for cancellation or alteration of their travel plans due to coronavirus will generally not be considered necessary.
Please note that loss of deposits and cancellations cover will not apply for any disinclination to travel on the part of an insured or any other person, or for any losses or expenses incurred due to a change of plans (except those outside the control of the insured).
